As a part of a QC check, you may be asked to answer questions about pulp to peel separation, peel color, interior color, latex, and/or grade.

• Peel Color

  • Dark = Full green color bananas
  • Medium = Slight yellow color on shoulder of banana
  • Light = Yellow color showing on full length of banana fingers

• Interior Color

  • Lite = Hard, white pulp color with a slight yellow streak in the center of the pulp
  • Medium = Firm, white pulp color with slightly more of a yellow streak in the center of the pulp
  • Heavy = Softer and more flexible pulp; typical ripened banana color

• Latex

  • Lite = Little to no latex when cut open
  • Medium = Average amount of latex when cut open
  • Heavy = High volume of latex when cut open

• Grade

  Grade refers to the roundness of the pulp cross section.

  • Thin: ridges are well defined

  

  • Normal: ridges are less defined

  

  • Full: ridges are not defined
